Protest letter to ECP on Partial & Biased Role of RO in Umerkot

The Secretary,
Election Commission,
Islamabad.

SUBJECT: Partial and biased role of Returning Officer

Dear Sir,

I would like to draw your attention toward a very biased and partial role of RO Umerkot who instead working as Returning Officer for local body elections is working as personal assistance of Syed Ali Mardan Shah, MPA & Minister Welfare & Population Sindh.

The partiality and involvement of RO Mr Teekam Das is evident from the attached pictures. They show his close relationship with the PPP Minister of the area Mr Ali Mardan Shah. Mr. Teekam Das has not only created hurdles in the way of our party candidates on the instance of Syed Ali Mardan Shah Minister but has also hatched conspiracies to keep our candidates out of the election process.

It reflected from his activities from the very first day when he did not accept the majority of the PTI nomination forms. We protested on the streets of Umerkot against his action and we had to go to the Honorable High Court which ordered acceptance.

He is trying his best to declare supporters and candidates of Ali Mardan Shah and his supporters winners even before local body elections are held. As an RO he has registered false cases against our six candidates contesting local body elections in one case PTI MNA Mr Lal Chand Malhi has also been nominated when they went to his office to register objections.

He has himself violated code of conduct of Election Commission. In his presence, we do not think local body elections will be held in fair manner. In the interest of justice please remove him and appoint an RO from out of division

Yours sincerely,

Dr Arif Alvi, MNA
