NA-250 Education Committee headed by Mrs. Samina Alvi along with DMC South Councillors Anand Sawlani and Sairah Khalid and respective local leadership visited schools in Qayyumabad and City Railway Colony on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Government Boys/Girls Primary School City Railway Colony has been host to the pilot programme for an ICT Tablet-based system of education. Approximately twenty young minds whom have yet to experience traditional classroom education are recipients of this programme that offers learning at the touch of an electronic tablet. The programme has been running for the last eight months and is expected to continue. The teachers as well as the students are impressed with the progress and learning through this method. The students' parents are also thrilled at the fast paced learning and interactive experience their children are exposed to.
The team also visited Qayyumabad where Rizwan School and Pak National School are situated and share a boundary wall. After surveying the two schools, the team assessed the rehabilitation work that is to commence through the efforts of the NA-250 Education Committee. Washrooms, roof work, overhead and underground water tanks, water coolers and flooring are part of the renovation process. The condition of Rizwan School is in a more deplorable condition but the Committee is hopeful that their efforts will expel any further grievances.
